I haven't washed my hair in over a month. There. I said it. I haven't washed my hair with commercially produced shampoo in over a month. And it doesn't stink, or feel like bendable craft wire, or look like the greasy bottom of a pizza box. That's my hair. Right there. I snapped that pic just now. I know you can't smell it, but does this look like hair that hasn't been washed in that long? Nope. Sure doesn't.
There were so many methods and suggestions that it made my head spin. Some people replaced daily shampoo with a mixture of baking soda and water. That gave me visions of scarecrows for some reason. Others used a concoction of apple cider vinegar and some other things to balance out the ph of the hair. All that did was make me balance over the toilet barfing. That stuff STINKS worse that road kill on a Texas highway. No thank you! I decided to do my own thing instead.
Found an organic conditioner with no sulfates. Those are the bad guys in regular hair care products. I dump a glob of that on in the shower and distribute it from roots to ends. Rub it in good, then continue with my normal shower duties. I rinse it all out at the end and wad it up in a towel. then it air dries on the way to wherever I'm going. That's it. Nothing more.
There were 2 days where my hair smelled weird. Its really porous and soaks up odors like crazy. One day was due to a late Mexican dinner and the other a camp fire. All I did to combat this was pour on a mixture of baking soda, peppermint oil, tea tree oil and water. Scrubbed it in then continued with my new "dirty hair" routine. Worked like a charm! Wasn't too dry and didn't smell like leftovers, either.
My hair is a lot let frizzy and the curls are more, uhh..."organized?" It feels really soft, too, which it never has before. Anyway, I'm kinda liking this new thing. Makes me feel like I'm doing something good for my hair by NOT doing bad things to it. Know what I mean? I'll see how long it lasts, but for now I can do NO POO!
