Everyone has them. I call them Gingersnaps. The moment it becomes alarmingly evident a Ginger has finally snapped. Those crazy trains of thought that don't necessarily relate to anything, or even have any bearing on life in general, but just keep going and going and often cause us to question our own mental capacity. Some are really funny, some are strange (like way out-there strange), some make no sense whatsoever, and some just shouldn't be mentioned again. Ever. Especially out loud. Welcome to my world!
I recently had some medical issues that required testing. Not a lot, but enough to be both worrisome and bothersome. During the "wait for the results" period, I did some thinking. A lot of thinking. I thought about my life in general and counted my blessings. Along with a fabulous family, great friends and many other wonderful things, I determined I've also been blessed with a creative imagination as well as a bizarre sense of humor. I've always got a partial story or string of thoughts running through my mind. A bit like mini-movies about everyday things that happen. Most of these I find quite humorous. While others are more thought-provoking.
I've also always had notebooks laying around full of snippets of stories or clumps of thoughts. Sometimes they make sense, but most times they're just weird. Often I'll write about a rant of some sort. People tell me its actually funny when I get twisted about something. Some days I may write about people - both real and make-believe. Other days perhaps it will be about something I'm thinking or feeling, or a behavior/ action I've witnessed. Or it could be about the severity of gas pains I may have had earlier in the day. You never really know. But I find I thoroughly enjoy flipping back through the notes later. The entries usually make me laugh hard and remind me of what led me to the thoughts in the first place. Lately I've been running out of storage space for the notebooks, so when a close friend suggested a blog (ok, so she suggested it more than once) I thought "hm. Let's give it a shot." And here we are.
